I’ve seen multiple people asking about the limits regarding documents uploads. Questions like:
“How many documents can I add to my GPT?”
“How can files be? What are the file size limits?”
File Size Limits
Each individual file uploaded to a Pickaxe cannot exceed 99 MB. Sometimes uploading a very large file may result in an error. We suggest you simply try again. Sometimes if tons of users are uploading at the same time, there can be issues.
Number of Files Limit
You can only upload multiple files. Gold users can upload 50 files total to an individual tool. Users on the free plan can only upload 3 files total to an individual. Please note this for individual tools, so yes you can upload the max number of files to multiple tools.
If you’re wondering about how to increase the accuracy of answers and make the GPT only give answers related to the document, check out this post on how to make sure the chatbot doesn’t make stuff up.
@admin_mike From the customer side, how do multiple uploads work?
For instance, I have 3 payment tiers set up ($10 for 10 uses, $25 for 50 uses, $50 to 100 uses), so people can upload files. I want the “rule” to be “1 file upload = 1 credit”. So 10 uses = 10 files total.
But can people potentially upload 10+ files per conversation? Is there a way to limit their uploads to just 1 file at a time? Thanks!
To clarify, I believe we’re discussing two distinct “upload documents” features related to pickaxes:
Internal Knowledge Pickaxe Uploads: This feature is designed for individual pickaxe training purposes. It is useful for sharing FAQs and examples of expected results that a pickaxe can reference.
User Uploads: This feature allows users of a pickaxe to upload a specified number of files to obtain the desired results.
For example, when I create recruiting pickaxes, my users need to upload job descriptions and resumes.
You are discussing end-user uploads which are different than the files that a Pickaxe builder uploads into their own Pickaxe’s Knowledge Base in the builder.
In regards to end-user uploads, you are not able to limit your users to a certian number of document uploads. They are unrelated to credits.
