What's the max amount of documents / file uploads?

Studio is saying I reached “max amount of documents” even though it was 50 documents per pickaxe and not by studio! Please fix this ASAP

We moved Knowledge Bases to the Studio level, so now the limits on file uploads is on a per studio level. If you’re on the Gold plan that means you can upload 50 files per Studio.

Is there a reason why this change was made and will you give LTD owners bigger limit considering it use to be 50 per pickaxe, and not by studio?

Again I completely understand if someone used to abuse this limit which lead to this change, but still 50 documents per studio is pretty limiting. Especially when pullin data from different webpages, this limit gets filled very quickly. Usually my chunks are about 20 - 100 something. I dont know if this KB or MB or what…just says chunks.

We made this change for a number of reasons. Mainly because there was an insane amount of files (many duplicates) in the old system that was slowing down the service for everyone. Many users would dump in hundreds of files into Pickaxes without really thinking. It both diluted their results (too much information), slowed down their Pickaxe, and weighed on the entire system. Storing documents at a Studio level let us do many things faster.

If you’re on a LTD, you are tied to the Gold plan. The Gold plan currently gets 50 file uploads per Studio.

The file size upload limit remains unchanged. It’s 99mb. Which is very, very large for text files. You should not be running into this limit with word docs. If you are, it is easily circumvented by compressing a file. Or you are trying to upload a PDF with tons of images (which will not be read anyways).

I mainly scrape text pages from public goverment website so the bot can give accurate data on certain topics. Not sure how “big” these are since there is no “Size” showing. Just “Size -” and “Chunks 105” for example.

A small idea for improvement. Let us combine text data to one file for the bot. For example if I have webpages A, B and C from site X the bot would scrape the pages I have given and combine them into one txt file which it could then use to search for the data later on. Or even better if it could just combine that data to editable txt file we could edit as well.

This would save space, make bots work faster (presumably) and make the Knowledge base even easier / better to use.

Ps. Thank you for the clarification and sad to see people doing stuff like this. Always makes it worse for everyone.

This has completely broken our use case of Pickaxe.

We are in construction. 50 docs for a single topic is a joke.

Let alone, now we are unable to create studios, bundling topics, as each topic will have over 50 docs. This means we cannot monetize studios, our medium term intention, which means you dont get your cut either.

We’re talking construction topics like concrete, timer framing, quality management, PMBOK, construction management, contract administration, construction law, waterproofing, painting, ceramic tiling, drywall/gyprock, joinery, erosion and sediment control management, site management - the list goes on which every topic being as deep as the other.

Then we have a pickaxe on the livable home standards - SDA - this is how to build compliant homes for people with disabilities. Again, not a 50 document topic - we have standards, guidelines, papers.

This kills our use of pickaxe/for the construction sector - zero value to us unless we upgrade.

These are complex topics and 50 documents per studio means we cant build studios anymore without upgrading.

Can you offer a discounted lifetime upgrade offer then to those of us who’s value proposition has been destroyed?

I’m sure there are people that abuse your software set, then there are legitimate use cases impacted by your recent changes like ours. I’m critical of this change. I understand your reasoning but believe it is shortsighted without an alternative for legitimate uses cases. We are pre-revenue, $77USD per month/annually is beyond our budget so this is not an option for us.

What are we supposed to do now?

Thank you

This is actually very good point. Maybe add a system to notice duplicate PDF names and since we have now Studio wide file system we could still limit per Pickaxe instead of studio? Maybe add some kind of other limit like 100 MB per PDF at max so people wouldnt just dump stuff in?

It seems we have been scammed here by Piackaxe.
