How to customize all copy & content

A lot of users ask “How do I change the placeholder text in the chat bar of a chatbot?” Or “How do I change the title of my studio”? Sensing the rising of a swell of a ‘common question’, I wanted to sit down and take the time to write a quick guide on how to customize text across the Pickaxe product (chatbots, forms, studios, & embeds)

Chatbot: Change placeholder text in the message bar
You can change the placeholder text that sits in the input area on the second screen of the builder. On the left-hand side of the screen look for the area called “Chat placeholder text”.

.
.
Embeds: Change placeholder text for Forms
If you are embedding a form onto a third-party website, you may want to change the placeholder text. You can do this on the embed customization screen. Simply go to the content tab in the right-hand side and look for a section called placeholder text. After you’ve set the placeholder text, copy the embed code and embed it on your website!

.
.
Studios: Change placeholder text for Forms
Forms inside a studio behave a little differently. To change the placeholder text in the fields of a Form, click on the pencil icon over in the side bar. This will open up the form in the preview panel and you’ll be able to write new placeholder text into it.

Studios: Change a Studio name
Changing the name of a Studio is very simple, but a little buried. In the Studio Manager, go to Pages, then Landing Page. From here click on “Edit Page” in the top right of the screen. Now you can start editing elements of your studio, including the title. See the screenshots below for visual instructions on changing the title.

.
.
Studios: Change favicon
Whatever image you set as the “Studio icon” is automatically used as the favicon of your Studio as well. Similarly, the title of your studio is used as the title in the tab. You can change the favicon in the Studio manager under the Design>Content.

The below screenshot shows an example.

Studios: Change pop-up messages in studio
Many users want to change the copy and contents of the pop-up messages that end-users of a studio receive when they:

  • Are prompted to log in
  • Are prompted to upgrade
  • Run out of uses
  • etc.

You can customize all these in the Studio Manager under the Pages tab under Pop-Ups
