A lot of users ask “How do I change the placeholder text in the chat bar of a chatbot?” Or “How do I change the title of my studio”? Sensing the rising of a swell of a ‘common question’, I wanted to sit down and take the time to write a quick guide on how to customize text across the Pickaxe product (chatbots, forms, studios, & embeds)
Change placeholder text in chatbot text input area
You can change the placeholder text that sits in the text input area. Within the builder for any chatbot, click on the Configure tab. Then look for a setting called “Chat placeholder text”.
Change placeholder text for Forms
You can change the placeholder text inside the text input fields of a Form in the Builder. Whatever you use as your test values in the builder, will be used as the placeholder text. That means whatever you enter in the right-hand side of the Builder to test your form with, will be used as grayed out placeholder text in the published version of the form.
Change a Studio name
Changing the name of a Studio is very simple. Within the Studio, go to the Settings tab, then look for the Name section.
Change Studio Website favicon
Whatever image you set as the “website icon” is automatically used as the favicon of your Studio as well. To change this, within your Studio go to the Design tab and in the right-hand design panel look for the “website icon” field. You can change many other high-level design settings here as well.
Change pop-up messages in studio
Many users want to change the copy and contents of the pop-up messages that end-users of a studio receive when they run out of uses and are prompted to upgrade. You can customize this messaging in the Access tab of your Studio.
Change copy/text in a Studio
To change the actual text within Studio pages, you need to go into the Visual Website Editor. This is very simple. Within your Studio, look for the Website tab at the bottom of the left-hand navbar. Then click on the Edit button. This will take you to the Visual Website Editor.
Once inside the Visual Website Editor, visit any page you wish to change. Then click the Edit button in the top right of the screen. Then you will enter editing mode. Click on any text element you wish to change, make the changes, then be sure to click the “Save” button afterwards.
