Anyone else getting this error message?

I have received this on 6 out of the last ten requests I have posed on my newly migrated Pickaxe - I’ve not experienced it before… Anyone else getting this? Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

I’m getting this message again - around 60% of the requests in the last 20 minutes. Screenshot of four in a row just now… Any suggestions?

That is an issue with OpenAI’s API. Sometimes their API goes down. You can check the Status Page here.

I’m still getting this - a lot (all morning GMT… you can see the date time stamp on my latest screen shot and for completeness - I’ve attached the Open AI status screenshot that shows no API issues.

To be clear - I don’t think this is rate limiting - (I have plenty of API credit with Open AI), since I have tried it with both my own API and my Pickaxe credits with the same results.


@stephenasuncion can you provide more insight into what this error might be?

We’ve investigated and determined this error does indeed come from OpenAI. To be more specific, we’ve been getting a lot of errors directly from OpenAI, and a lot of errors from our system because OpenAI responded too slowly (or didn’t respond at all) because their system is overloaded. @ecaveo it doesn’t have to do with how much “API credit” you have. It reliably happens more often on more advanced models (GPT 4.5, o3) and still happens occasionally on 4o.

What model are you using?

I tried all the available open AI models but just got the error acrosd the board on all my pickaxes.
