‘Enable Chat Responses’ not working properly

‘Enable Chat Responses’ not working properly

In this video, I discuss the challenges I’m facing with the email helper feature, particularly regarding the “enable chat responses” option. I demonstrate how the tool is supposed to allow users to continue a conversation but seems to be malfunctioning by not retaining previous context. I also share my observations on how it generates entirely new emails instead of modifying the existing ones as intended. I would appreciate your thoughts on this issue and any suggestions you might have for improvement.

1. Introduction

  • Purpose of the Loom: Discuss the functionality of the “enable chat responses” option in an email helper tool.

2. Initial Thoughts on Functionality

  • Likes the idea of starting with a simple form for clients.
  • Intends for the form to allow continuation of conversation.

3. Observed Issues

  • The chat response feature does not seem to work as intended.
  • Suspects that the system may be sending the entire prompt again instead of retaining previous context.

4. Demonstration of the Issue

  • Provides an example of using the email helper:
    • User inputs a story and a call to action.
    • Receives five subject options based on the input.
  • User attempts to modify the email:
    • Requests a specific change (e.g., changing the first sentence).

5. Results of the Attempted Change

  • The system does not retain the original email context:
    • It starts with the requested sentence but generates a completely different email.
  • Indicates that the output is based on the knowledge base rather than the user’s specific input.

6. Seeking Solutions

  • Questions how to resolve the issue of context retention in the chat responses.
  • Considers the possibility of abandoning the form approach in favor of a chatbot format.
  • Expresses a preference for the simplicity of the form but is open to alternatives.

7. Conclusion

  • Requests assistance in resolving the issue to improve user experience with the email helper tool.

Hi @crowd_connect form-style Pickaxes cannot be interrogated. They are only capable of producing 1 output per session.

Hi, I appreciate the reply, but that seems very confusing to me.

Do you know what the purpose of the switch that says “enable chat responses” is that shows up under the “configure” tab when you select a form type Pickaxe?

Also, if you get a chance to take a look at the screenshare video from my first post at around 1:30, there’s a button on the output, that does let me chat back with the initial response.

When I do, I am getting a response, just a confused one like maybe it’s starting over with the initial prompt or something.

If the form-style Pickaxes are in fact only capable of producing 1 output per session, then I am thoroughly confused at the design. Am I missing something?

Here’s that first screenshare showing what happens after the initial response:

I think it’s a development quirk, but @admin_mike can better answer you on this one (in about 8 hours from now Los Angeles, CA time ‘PST’)

This is a very good documentation of this problem. I will look into it!
