Google Harmful Content

In a Google Chrome browser, I was warned about “Harmful Content”, and told that if I was the owner, to learn more in the Google Search Console. I’ve registered, and reviewed it, and I am shown: “Security issues: 1 issue detected”. When I click on the full report, I see:

  • 1 issue detected
  • Google has detected harmful content on some of your site’s pages. We recommend that you remove it as soon as possible. Until then, browsers such as Google Chrome will display a warning when users visit or download certain files from your site.

Under “Detected Issues”, I get the following:

  • Deceptive pages
  • Description
  • These pages attempt to trick users into doing something dangerous, such as installing unwanted software or revealing personal information. Learn more
  • Sample URLs
  • N/A

Just trying to figure out how to resolve this, so that I can do a soft launch. I did put in a “Request Review” request, and we will see what they come back with.

Was this happening right after you set up a custom domain? Or at another time?

nathaniel - I had set up the custom domain, but it had been up at least a few days.

If anyone else runs into this kind of issue, my request to the Google Search system to re-evaluate it based on my description of the 3rd party site appears to have worked. Also, on the Pickaxe-built pages for my platform, I made to to specify that I was asking for “game character race, game-character class, game character background”. It is possible that Google Search saw me requesting the information from the user, and saw it as improper information gathering.

Regardless, they “passed” the site this time. I hope the information I provided helps someone else, too!

Thanks for getting back to me!
