Instead of creating a whole new PickAxe with Automatic Pickaxe Builder, can I use it to copy and paste the prompts to an existing PickAxe?

I noticed the Automatic PickAxe Builder creates new PickAxes, but what if we want to enhance our already created PickAxes? Can we do this with a new tool called “Enhance PickAxe Builder,” where we can paste in our existing prompt for the pickaxe we want to enhance with additional directions, features, etc, in our prompts? Is this possible now, or does it not exist yet?

@rainmaker there is no agent for that yet. However, you can clone a pickaxe and make changes to improve it

@ab2308, I try not to add new pickaxes whenever I miss parts in my prompt, but that seems the best way. Then, ask it to create a better prompt to paste in my old P.A.

It seems like I can delete or clone it, as you say. A more efficient workflow would be to use the Pickaxe Creator assist to work on prompt engineering and then paste it into my old P.A.s, which makes more sense without creating a new P.A. I would Have the option to create or enhance via the Pickaxe Creator.

@rainmaker yes this is a very cool idea. Why don’t you create a post in the feature request section?

I believe @intellibotique built a tool that does this-- optimizes existing prompts.

I have created quite a few tools. At this point, I find that my tools create a prompt that uses more tokens than needed to do exactly the same thing as can be done with far fewer using a pretty simple process with the web interface for either of the current versions of ChatGPT or Claude — depending on what I’m writing for.

I give it my system prompt and ask it to assess its strength and weaknesses as a “system prompt” it’s important to now use that verbiage —- until recently it didn’t reliably know what a system prompt was.

Then read through its suggestions and respond accordingly and ask for an expanded or comprehensive system prompt optimized for (insert LLM and version here).

Then let it do its thing. I do find I sometimes have to repeat the cycle get it right. But I have replaced my own tools with the above method.

Thanks so I should put in a feature request for An “Enhancer of PickAxe’s Natively” along with what is already available “Automatic PickAxe Builder”?

Nevermind, I already requested this feature. Having both natively would be amazing! - Instead of creating a new pickaxe with automatic pickaxe builder have a separate agent for prompt engineering assistance
