My Chatbot Disappeared

I created a chatbot several months ago, and was trying to update it today when suddenly I was logged out, and then subsequently sent to a sign-up login page.

After logging back in on the login page, this chatbot had disappeared. I saw another similar issue, where it was found that if you sign out, and log back in, the chatbot would reappear, however, that’s not the case.

I know the chatbot exist somewhere since I have it embedded on a site, and it seems to work.

Is there something I can do to make this bot reappear on my dashboard?

Try clearing your cache. I think I saw that worked for a couple other people.

That probably sounds simple to you, though when you say “clear your cache” what cache are you talking about, my browser? I should probably know, but I’m not sure…

Oh sorry about that. Yes I mean your browser cache.

Agree. Clearing browser cache and deleting cookies usually helps our customers deal with such issues.

You might want to try logging out and then logging back in.

Yeah, I tried logging in several times with no luck. I even logged out of my browser and logged back in, but apparently that doesn’t help either. I’ll work on clearing my browser cache, as suggested.

Did you manage to publish it before you got kicked out - if not, you will have lost it.

I have it embedded in a website, so yes, thankfully it was published. I was working on it when I got kicked out, and it was gone when I logged back in.

After looking into it some more, it appears that the chatbot wasn’t the same where I had the code embedded, and I had to re-create it, so, you were absolutely right!

I’ll be documenting all my prompts and knowledge base items outside of Pickaxe from now on, so if this happens again, it’ll be easy to re-create lost bots.

Just wanted to let you know that I cleared my cache, and that wasn’t the problem since the bot didn’t reappear.

I will try that as my first course of action from now on though, so thanks for the tip!

Our development team analyzed a situation and found the problem.
As you guys mentioned, deleting cache may be a good option in most cases, but this situation is slightly different.

It turns out a user accidentally logged out, and a system wasn’t able to save information properly and the chatbot became invisible for this user.

I strongly recommend you take a look at the header before you save any changes to Pickaxes to make sure your name is displayed.

Hi dev_vlad, sorry to ‘high jack’ this conversation, but I just had the same thing happen to me. My Pickaxe is showing the studio but it’s no longer on my dashboard. Are you able to help me recover/retrieve it? I’m happy to provide details in a ticket or via e-mail. Thx.

Nathaniel was able to restore it for me last night (via an email exchange). Sorry for “double dipping” on the support request. I’m new and wasnt sure of the support process.

What was odd is that my Pickaxe disappeared from my Dashboard yet I could still see and use it through my Studio. A bit of a mystery but its back on my Dashboard now.

Sounds good.

If something similar happens to you in the future, the first thing you should try is logging out and then logging back in. It often helps.

Thanks, Vlad. I did that, along with clearing the cache on the browser, but neither helped. Hopefully, just a one-off!

I have had this happen multiple times. To make sure this doesn’t happen - I publish it as soon as I have my instructions done to save where I am at. It doesn’t save the work as you go until you hit publish - at least for me.
