Custom Domains - Do I buy a domain or a domain and hosting?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I would like to know if to deploy a ‘studio’ on a custom domain it is necessary to also hire the hosting service?

You need to:

  • buy the domain from a provider like GoDaddy or NameCheap.
  • Re-configure the DNS records for that domain within GoDaddy or NameCheap.
  • Add the records for your Pickaxe studio to the DNS records.

You just need to buy the domain. Pickaxe hosts your studio. Once you add a custom domain, we point all the content to a custom domain so people can access it through the custom domain.
