I got as far as launching a studio, reaching 1000 impressions through paid ads and achieving a reasonable CTR. What’s making me pause the project for now is the lack of clarity and options on privacy, and also cookie consent. If you try to monetize through a studio and making that the full domain, there’s no sufficient solution to address this part of section 7 of Terms of Service: “When a Builder shares a tool, either by sharing the link, embedding the tool on their website, adding the tool to a Pickaxe studio, or in any other way, they are responsible for notifying any potential end user of the tool that there is no expectation of privacy to be expected with respect to interactions with the tool. It is their duty to inform potential users that the Builder, as well as Pickaxe staff, may be able to observe their interactions. More broadly, it is their responsibility to inform users that use of the tool is governed by Pickaxe’s terms & privacy policy.”
At minimum, the platform needs to provide a way for showing a Privacy link on every page. It would also help a lot to have:
- more uniform privacy treatment handled by Pickaxe as a platform (users shouldn’t have to dissect the Pickaxe and builder’s terms, and their overlap)
- the ability to turn off seeing user chats
- clarity about how email addresses and payment information is handled by Pickaxe and the chosen AI engine
- standard cookie consent features (for full studio implementation)
I’m de-activating my successful pilot for now. If these things get addressed, I’ll look forward to re-enabling and backing activating my marketing plan with more paid advertising.
