Studio Redesign Updates! đź“Ł

I wanted to give the community on our upcoming redesign. We are already rolling out the new redesigns to select users. There’s still lots of work to do in them-- debugging, tightening up, etc. By the end of February we will have the redesigned Pickaxe rolled out to everyone.

Ahead of that, I wanted to give users a preview of some of the cool changes. We’ll start making videos and sharing lots of screenshots soon. Ahead of that, here are a few things.

SOME UPCOMING CHANGES

  • Studios are very important! They are not just websites, they are now workspaces where you can group Pickaxes. You can use them to share settings across tools (API keys, Knowledge Bases, User Memories).

  • Studios still have a web-app/website that you can launch at a custom domain. It’s just an optional component of it. Within a studio (a group of Pickaxes) you can launch certain pickaxes as a website or not. You can also embed or share them as standalone pages.

  • Embeds will become linked to Studios! Now when you have a Pickaxe in a studio and you create an embed of it, you can also create custom funnels between your embeds and your studio website. (see screenshot 1)

  • You can also add collaborators to your Studios! You can invite other users to view, manage, and edit Pickaxes within your studio. This will be especially good for small teams, our growing Pickaxe Experts program, and anyone who is doing paid work building Pickaxes for clients.

  • We’ve effectively rebuilt the backend from scratch to be more performative. You should see no difference in functionality, but an increase in speed and reliability.

Stay tuned. We’ll start releasing videos and screenshots very soon!

that’s exciting news, can’t wait to use the new features!

COOL!
Hope it should be possible to set different limits inside same tier when adding Pickaxes to a studio.
Example:
Tier X → 30 uses per month of Pickaxe A and unlimited use per month of Pickaxe B

Awesome! I can’t wait to see the changes.

Agreed! This would be incredibly helpful for the use case I’m working on

Creating different costs for different Pickaxes will not be possible.

Another change is we are simplifying the tier system to a product based system. You sell credits + tool unlocks. Within the same studio you will be able to do free products, one-time payment product, and recurring subscriptions products. You will also have the ability to make products visible/invisible so you can create many custom invisible products that you can dole out to users.

please consider this at least on short roadmap.
This could increase value for our users so we can use a cheaper model with unlimited use and a better and more expensive model for another type of tasks

API for adding/creating users will be available as well?

Will we be able to issue coupon codes for a certain amount of credits? Like THANKYOU5 gives a 5 credit bonus to the user witth the ability to control how many times it’s used or a exp date? Wishful thinking right? lol

Just so you know you can already create coupon codes for discounts. Not exactly credits, but still. See here.

In the new redesign, you will be able to issue individual users specific amounts of credits. You’ll be to click on their name, click “add credits” and then give them any amount you’d like.

This is GREAT news!!!

Hi Mike

If you place an embed that is part of a Studio, can you can charge for the use of an Embed the way you would in a Studio ?

Thanks @admin_mike for the update!

Great news!! Really looking forward to it! :raised_hands:t3:

When adding collaborators, can they only see the custom domain? That would be important for my use case.

all sounds good but for me I’d be much happier with a better page designer/editor.

How could I be included in your beta testing of new features?

Great news! Looking forward to it - thanks for the update

Just go and email Ian ian@pickaxeproject.com. There’s still time to be included in Cohort 2.

White-labeling the entire backend builder experience is not something we plan on doing. So any collaborators you invite into a studio will understand it is Pickaxe.

Only the end-user facing interface can be fully white-labeled. The builder experience will be Pickaxe.
