The redesigned Pickaxe is now available to all users! If you want to use it, you can visit Pickaxe.co and migrate your account over. Hereās a video to walk you through the new redesign
Whatās New?
The new Pickaxe has some cool new changes. The biggest difference is that Studios are now workspaces. They still have a website and monetization/authentication, but in addition they are ways to group Pickaxes together, share API keys, actions, documents, etc. Some specific changes include:
Global API keys for Studios
Global Knowledge Bases for Studios
User Memories
Collaboration. Pro customers can invite users to share their studio with them
Version History (see all edits of your old Pickaxe)
Ability to not collect end-user responses (important for many use cases!)
And much more!
We have a bunch of other cool changes weāll be pushing to redesign in the coming weeks.
How do I use it?
If you want to use the redesigned Pickaxe, simply visit Pickaxe.co and click the migrate the button. This will move your account over to the new system. Migrating is literally as simple as clicking a button, but if youāre unsure you can watch this migration walkthrough video.
Migration is totally optional right now! So no rush if youāre familiar with all the buttons on the old version and want to stay.
This is a change on the old platform as well. Those particular models were too expensive to offer to the Gold tier so weāve moved them to the higher tier. We were racking up unsustainable costs with the way some accounts were using them.
This too is the major issue that Iām facing. This isnāt a bug, but a feature removal in the new version.
Mike, totally understand the cost issue, but we need to be able to bring our own keys, then there will be no cost to you and our service to clients wonāt be interrupted. This is impacting my deliverables to my clients in a big way, and Iām in a very difficult situation now. Please allow me to bring my own keys.
I see that Opus (3.0) is the most expensive one, followed by Sonnet (3.7) and that Haiku (3.5) is the cheapest one. But you blocked 3.5 and 3.7. It seems like its better to block block 3.0 and open up 3.5, or am I missing something?
It will be making a return! But itās not currently available in the new system. Itāll be back (and MUCH improved) sometime next week. (The auto AI builder)
Please make a writeup about any of the small issues. As detailed as possible. The product is very malleable right now. And still has some legitimate oversights/bugs in a few corners.
I would say sit tight - this combines all your Pickaxe knowledge bases into one window at a studio level (that canāt be expanded and column sorting isnāt working well) and makes added, cleaning duplicates, managing documents to Pickaxes impossible.
To put in perspective I tried to add a batch of files, ended up adding all twice and so now my options are delete the Pickaxe and start again, or manually sift through thousands of documents removing duplicates. (I chose the second option and itās taken my 4 x 8 hour working days of just clicking so far and counting)
I think youāre misunderstanding how to use the Knowledge Base. I understand the updated UI is new and unfamiliar, and that this change can be frustrating.
You only add files once. Once youāve added a file, on a Pickaxe by Pickaxe basis you can decide whether you want to connect that File (already uploaded) to the Pickaxe or not.
We will be making some tutorials this week. The new system should make upload easier (no double uploading) and increase the speed of retrieving Knowledge from the uploaded files.
