Guest user access to all pickaxes despite being in locked plans?

Guest users prior to the update could access all pickaxes without signing up. This features appears to have been removed. Is there a way to activation pickaxes for both paid plans AND guest users like before?

I think that’s still the case? If not, I’m not sure what you’re seeing.

It states that any locked pickaxes will not be shown to Guests. There’s no way to add pickaxes to the guest plan as it is grayed out.

This is a massive problem. Guests can use no pickaxes, so guest access no longer exists? I can’t use the product now. This must be a bug because it’s substantially worse than the old version.

Following.

Also unsure how the new Product system is working.
I would like guests to be able to have limited number of uses of Pickaxes before they register to a product tier.

Following, I’d like for users to be able to have a limited number of uses without logging in.

Guest users can still use Pickaxes, if you allow them.

These are settings you can control under the Access tab of a Studio. There you’ll see a section labeled Products. You’ll find your basic Guest settings (for users who are have not purchased a product). Then you’ll find Products. Any tool that is paywalled behind a product cannot be used by guests. If you want to remove a Pickaxe from behind a paywall, simply remove the tool from the product or delete the product.

I have created a workaround, by duplicating the pickaxes I want guests to have trial access to and labelling them as “Trial”.

It’s not ideal, but for now it works. I can have a Product with them in, with unlimited uses as well as the “Trial” versions offering users a pre-set number of uses

Thanks for confirming Mike. I’m wondering why you guys decided to take this direction, and what the intended user experience is?
Specifically around converting a guest user into a sign up and paid user.

For example, I have a pickaxe currently that is generating leads for me each day. I set it up with the prior pickaxe version, so guest users are still allowed 20 uses before they are prompted to since up with an email account.
Zero friction to try out my app.
It’s working well because they get hooked on the app with those 20 uses, and then sign up with an email for another free 50 uses.
Then, the final step is a paid plan for unlimited uses.

As another user has suggested, duplicating the pickaxe is a workaround, but it doesn’t feel like the user is testing the exact app they are supposed to purchase.
Also, I have 5 different pickaxes, and I want them to try them all so they see the value.
Duplicating the pickaxes creates 10 total, making it harder to manage, and creating redundancies.
For example, I made a duplicate pickaxe and specified that it is a trial version… it looks cluttered and adds friction since user has to click over to the “real” version later if they sign up. They also lose their history, so they aren’t able to pick up where they left off from the trial.

You can still create this flow in the new system.

You would..

  • Create a Guest tier (no login required)
  • Create a free product with more uses (login required)
  • Create a paid product with even more uses (login required)

Sorry Mike is this correct?

I have just tried this. I have two Pickaxes on https://app.note2quote.com/
They are each in a product (I have a monthly product and an annual product).

However, the guest tier doesn’t include those pickaxes because they are in those above mentioned products? I don’t see how the flow works to have guests use the pickaxes without registering?

following. I need to understand how this works in v2 before upgrading.
