Guidance needed: How do I force a multiple-choice question?

Hi there,

I’m looking to ‘force’ the user to select from a list of pre-defined options prior to allowing free entry text e.g., specifying demographic (White/Asian/Black/Others/Do Not Want). Is there this capability?

I read something about prompt injection but it doesn’t seem to be related.

Hi @jakeswu, you can achieve this with the form-type pickaxe where the user answers some questions before starting the chat or in a chat-type pickaxe you need to use prompting to make it happen.

The only problem with the form is that the user needs to click on the chat icon on the bottom left to initiate the chat

Yes this is totally correct! You can create a form with a required multiple choice. Then after the run the form, they can open it up as a chat.

@admin_mike, it would be great if the chat was immediately expanded. As it is now users are often confused and don’t know how to continue the chat.

That’s something we’ve been thinking about. On Smart Forms we have feature in the control panel called “enable go to chat”. If you toggle this on, it creates an icon on the bottom of every response for end-users of the tool to open up the response as a conversation.

However, the icon is considered by many Pickaxe users to be unclear or too subtle.

We are planning to revisit it eventually. Perhaps this will involve a feature like “kick out into chat”.
